Questions, bugs, ideas: support@sleeplaugh.net. I read every message and usually answer within a day or two. If something went wrong, the three things that help most are which device, which version of iOS, and what happened just before.

About the game

A calm ocean for young children, and for anyone who needs a quiet moment. You are a small jellyfish drifting over a coral reef, through a kelp forest and past a sunken ship, then down through the twilight into the deep, where the animals make their own light. There are 63 real sea animals to meet, each with its real name. For iPhone and iPad, iOS 18 or later. No ads, nothing to buy, and it plays offline.

How to play

Touch the water anywhere and the jellyfish swims toward your finger. There is nothing to win or lose, no timers and no score, and nothing needs reading. Any touch does something, and there are no tiny buttons.

The column on the right is the ocean's depth, from the sunlit shallows at the top to the abyss at the bottom. Tap it where you want to be and the jellyfish swims there, and it stays at that depth until you tap the column again.

The glowing bubble in the bottom right corner opens the wall of every animal and place. Tap any of them to go and see it. Animals you have not met yet wait there as grey silhouettes until you find them.

Tap an animal in the water to see its name, then tap the name for a short page of facts. The speaker button on the page reads it aloud; nothing plays until you tap it.

Common questions

How do I turn the sound off?
The game follows your device's silent mode, and the volume buttons work as usual. It never stops music you are already playing.
What is the background sound?
A gentle binaural soundscape: a slightly different low tone in each ear, which grows lower and slower as you go deeper. It sounds best with headphones; on a speaker it is a soft, slow hum. Every tap adds a chime, and all the chimes come from one five-note scale, so they always sound right together.
The read-aloud button makes no sound.
Check silent mode and the volume. The voice follows the same settings as the rest of the game.
Why are some animals grey on the wall?
Those are the ones you have not met yet. Tap one to go and meet it. Nothing in the game is ever locked.
Can my child get stuck, or lose?
No. There is nothing to lose and nothing to fail, and the shallows are always bright: tap the top of the depth column and the jellyfish swims back up to them.
Does it remember what we have found?
Yes. The wall remembers every animal you have met, on that device. Deleting the app starts it fresh.
Is there anything to buy?
No. There are no ads and no in-app purchases.
Does it need an internet connection?
No. It never goes online at all.
Which devices does it run on?
iPhone and iPad running iOS 18 or later, held upright or sideways. The screen only turns when no finger is on it and the device has been held the new way for a moment, so it never flips in the middle of play.

Privacy

Jellyfish Journey collects nothing. There are no accounts, no ads, no analytics, and no tracking, and it never goes online. The animals you have met stay on your device. The whole of it is in the privacy policy.
